Now these women got a great opportunity in partnership
with the high class Spa and Wellness Resort Ayana near Jimbaran. The women
complete at least a three months job training at the Ayana and it gives them
the experience, opportunity and hope to find sustainable employment in
hospitality. It enables them to change their futures.
Their training at Ayana will culminate in the Role
Models charity dinner, when they help to prepare and serve a menu in
conjunction with Dava Chef de Cuisine Jusman So.
This is their night to shine.
The raised money from the event will go to Role
Foundations vocational and education program Bali Wise and if the students
doing their work really well they have the chance to work at least for the
Ayana. http://www.ayanaresort.com/

Anyway how important the environment protection is,
you have to take a look on the second project of Role Foundation: Bali
Wise. http://www.baliwise.org/
Bali Wise try to improve the living
standards of disadvantaged or risk Women. The women between 15 and 50 who are
usually unpaid, illiterate and unskilled learn basic reading, writing and
speaking in Bahasa Indonesia, basic english, basic mathematics and sciences and
basic life and work skills like grooming, respect, motivation, honesty and
costumer service. Finally after 6 months training the women are able to do an
exam and work at the farm or get an other well paid job.
Ni Luh Triani for example is a 20 year old
Balinese woman from Kutuh Villiage, Southern Bali. Her father pulled her out of
school at the third grade of primary school because of her eye problems and a
low familiy income.
Bali Wise found a sponsor for some reading
glasses. But even after getting her some reading glasses her father did not
think it was neccessary for Luh to be educated. This turned into a major drama
for Luh and Bali Wise, but eventually things get sorted out. She was discovered
by the Roles Literacy Teacher Miss Made Juniartini through the local Banjar.
and began Bali Wise Literacy class in January 2010. At this moment she was not
able to read and write or do basic mathematics.
Now Luh is preparing to start her fourth 3
month semester and is starting to show much improvement in her reading and
writing skills. Her mathematics level is about average, for her time with
us.She shows a strong willingness to get a reliable job to support her younger
sisters.
Luh self says she was very lucky to find
Bali Wise and is happy to learn many new things about people, food and
environment.

In that case Role works closely together with Tarum a company which is specialised in natural dyes and weaving.

The Island Sustainability Center combines finally the separated areas. The
educated women can now apply their knowledge.
For example the Waste is getting separated and the organic matter is served
as compost for crops, which depending on as well become used for protect
against erosion or sun as for foods such as tomatoes and chilli.
In addition to the waste
processing Role Foundation tries to devote himself largely into permaculture. The co-founder of the
ecological cultivation methods Bill Mollison Permaculture explained as
follows:
"The conscious design and
maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity,
stability and resilience of natural ecosystems. The philosophy behind
permaculture is a philosophy that works with and not against nature, a
philosophy of continuous and deliberate observation and not the ongoing and
thoughtless action, they considered systems in all their functions, rather than
just one type of income from them demand, and it allows systems to demonstrate
their own evolutions. "
ROLE uses mainly its own
resources. Many foods such as fruits, vegetables, honey, spices and many more are
available from its own vineyards. Even the animals who are living in the Eco Learning Center, such as
ducks and chicken can move freely on the grounds.
Furthermore
everything is managed by using specially produced energy. Mainly solar energy but also by other
current ways, as seen here, obtains electricity.

While there remains a strong link between education and the environment, both causes deserve specific attention. With that in mind, in 2012 the Island Sustainability Education Centre http://www.rolefoundation.org/ and Bali WISE http://baliwise.org/ were setup separately to focus on the environment and education respectively.
